In 2012 the whole of York celebrated its role as the Home of the Chocolate industry with an exciting program of dinners, workshops, tastings, lectures, Easter Egg hunts as well as demonstrations. In October 2013 Blood + Chocolate was a fabulous promenade performance that took audiences through the street's of York with a tale of York's role in the Great War. Now in 2016 we have enjoyed welcoming visitors to York to tell them about our chocolate heritage for nearly 5 years, and it has been a truly indulgent time.
There is no better place to celebrate and immerse yourself in the culture and history of chocolate this Easter than York. The city has a rich chocolate heritage. While other northern centres made their wealth from wool, cotton and steel - York developed its own unique chocolate industry. This great tradition continues to this day, where all over the city there are echoes of York's chocolate past. Containing some of the country’s finest chocolate producers, cafes and boutiques the city is the UK’s home of chocolate. The program is continually being added to, so please keep checking the website for the latest updates and information about the festival program and partners.
