Set out from JORVIK on a city-wide quest for chocolate visiting six different locations around York with a treat at each stop!
Families are invited to join in on what is bound to be a 'cracking' day! The hunt starts at 10am and participants are to start no later than 12 noon. Collect your treasure sheet from JORVIK, £1.50 per child (includes admission to the Mansion House and Micklegate Bar). It's bound to be a mad scramble!

A delicious tour - hear the history of Terrys and Rowntrees, visit chocolate and sweetie shops and taste free samples.
Walks start at the Museum Gardens Gates on Museum Street.

11am Easter Egg Making - Hands-on Chocolate Making Workshop with York Cocoa House
During this hands-on workshop all participants will get stuck in, working to temper chocolate to create a chocolate Easter Egg to be filled with chocolate truffles and mini eggs. Get stuck in learning how to make a Chocolate Easter Egg to hold all of your special chocolates.
You will make your chocolate egg, you will then need to leave it to set for an hour before beautifully packaging your creation to take home and show off, share or maybe just enjoy!

A look at Chocolates' journey through English social history by Dr Annie Gray, Food Historian, will look at the often vitriolic debates surrounding the acceptability of chocolate under Queen Anne as well as its development as a luxury drink. Attendees will discover tastes of recipes from 1651.
The chocolate cup to the right is a 17th C goblet made from a coconut shell, it was presented to the city by J.B. Morrell following his time as Lord Mayor of York, it currently resides in the Mansion House.
6.00pm - Chocolate and Wine Tasting - Chocolate Festival Marquee, St Sampson's Square
Join Karen Hardwick of theWine Academy to enjoy a comparative wine and chocolate tasting. Discover the influence of the "terroir" in the growing of grapes, much of the terminology we use to discus wine can now be applied to the world of chocolate. During the tasting you will enjoy a range of wines and chocolates typical of the terroirs in which they are grown.
